Installation Tips
Step 1: Measure and Plan
The first step on any project is to put your plan on paper. Measure the length of the roofline and add about 10% to your total so you’ll have enough cord and bulbs to finish the job without coming up short.
Step 2: Prep on the Ground
Install and test bulbs on the ground before beginning installation. This is the easiest time to spot any issues and replace bulbs as needed. Install clips on the ground as well so you can move smoothly and safely once you’re on the ladder.
Step 3: Cut and Jump Between Rooflines
Cut the cords as you install them for a perfect, custom fit. To jump from one elevation to another, install male and female Gilbert plugs on 18 AWG wire to create a jumper between the beginning of one run and the next. Remember to use no more than 250 feet of 18 AWG wire in a single run, regardless of what types of bulbs are installed in the rest of the circuit.
Step 4: Coordinate the Whole Display
Coordinate the bulbs outlining the roof with lights on wreaths, garlands, and Christmas trees to pull the entire display together. Using the same warm white C9 bulbs across the project gives this home its classic, polished look.
