Questions and Answers

Have a Question?

ASK A QUESTION
  • which type of LED bulb will be most similar to the soft, rich and warm look of incandescent bulbs?

That's the #1 question we get! The honest truth is that no LED is a perfect 1-to-1 match for a traditional glass bulb—the technology is just different.

However, we can get you extremely close, depending on the "classic look" you're going for. The warm white version of any LED bulb or light string is going to come closest to incandescent. They will actually blend if you combine them in a display.

For the "Show Stopper" Look: Our #1 best-seller is the Faceted Warm White C9. The complimentary smaller version is the faceted C7 warm white bulb. The facets sparkle like a gem and create a brilliant "wow" factor. This is the bright, stunning look you see on most modern, professionally-decorated homes. (The link above is to all the C7 and  C9 faceted bulbs in case you want to alternate white with colors.)

For the "Soft Vintage" Look: If you remember the classic ceramic painted bulbs from the 50s and 60s, you'll want the Opaque C9 LED Bulbs or Opaque C7 Bulbs. The frosted coating creates a rich, soft, and nostalgic glow with no hot spots.

The short answer: Most people looking for that bright "wow" factor choose Faceted. If you're a traditionalist going for a softer, nostalgic look, choose Opaque.

  • Which are brighter and more realistic, Illuminance or Minleon?

Hello, thank you for your question.

We just filmed this video showing the difference between Minleon and Illuminance for a warm white bulb.

You can see it here: video about 3 kinds of white C9 bulbs until we film a version for multicolor opaque.

The two lines are comparable in color and brightnesss.

With regards to realism, the new illuminance bulb is quite similar to their glass counterparts. This is especially obvious in the blue which looks more pastel than a true blue just like traditional opaque.

I hope that helps. We'll move taking a comparison video of the opaque multi bulbs to the top of our list.
