These are pretty nice little seals that will keep water out of the sockets and help insure a good connection for the bulbs. Nobody wants to go changing bulbs or sockets in the middle of the holiday season!!! I saw where there was an issue with these being a little hard to install, but here's my personal experience with these. The sockets I'm using are not the best. The bulbs don't get snug until the very last moment and tend to cross thread way too many times. I have to back them out and intentionally screw them in straight even though it may want to cross thread again. That said, these made the bulb installation even harder and I was not at all confident of a solid connection inside the socket since these tended to hinder the bulb being screwed into the socket. So... I went to my toolbox and took a 5/8" deep socket to use on these o rings. I placed the o ring on the bulb thread as usual and then used the 5/8" deep socket to finish pushing the o ring completely on to the bulb to the point where it would actually flare on the base of the bulb. It didn't take any pressure to speak of to do this, but made all the difference for me when screwing the bulb onto the C9 socket. No resistance at all and a nice tight seal in the end. This ultimately produced results much better than relying on the bulb to fully mate with the socket. For my purposes, I would only use these if installing bulbs in an upright position, not upside down... no need for it then and could actually hold water instead. In short, they are a good investment for my hard work on customizing my light display and would recommend them. I wish I could have found some of these in brown, but the black will do. Not as noticeable as a thought they would be on brown light strings. Start early. Patience and planning will pay off in the long run!!!

O-rings went on nice and easy with the C9 bulbs I purchased. Hopefully a little extra protection for the weather.

Just installed these rubber o-rings onto our new light strings. They provide a great seal at the bottom of the bulb where it meets the socket. With the occasional tropical downpours here in Florida, I am confident this added protection will keep our lights "happy" for years to come.

I wish I had found these years ago, before corrosion made me replace all of the sockets on the luminarias we put up for Christmas! These little live rubber donuts seal perfectly between the bulb and the socket. My only regrets -- I only needed 22 but had to buy 100, and had to pay a warehouse charge that was more than the price of the items.

I installed almost 500 LED bulbs on my most recent project with these little beauties and consider them an essential part of the entire investment. If you're buying cord sets and installing your own bulbs I'm not sure there is a better way of weather proofing your light sets and protecting your investment especially if you're spending extra for LED bulbs. The O-ring seals the bulb and socket very well. Be sure to get your bulbs in good and snug. If you don't get them turned in good and tight the bulb may not light. It's very easy to check with the light set on the ground and get them in all snug. I suggest lighting it all up on the ground before heading up the ladder.
