Fun Christmas Lights Tools
As we've passed the halfway point in 2008, and some stores are already showing Christmas decorations, we thought we'd roll out some tools to make it easier to plan your Holiday lighting. Our first tool is for calculating how many lights you might consider for your Christmas tree based on the size of the bulbs you choose. Keep in mind that the resulting number is a great guideline but let your taste be your guide when it comes to lighting your tree. If you know you really like a heavy concentration of Christmas lights on your interior tree, then consider adding 30% more bulbs than the tool suggests - or if you like things a little lighter when it comes to usage, then start with the low end of the range. Sometimes it's hard to have intuition about how many lights to purchase per tree so this tool makes a great starting place. Our second tool is becoming more appropriate every day with rising energy costs. We developed this tool when we saw a blog entry where a woman claimed that she ran 3 sets of mini lights for her Christmas decorations and her bill went up over $100. We figure she just left the heat on more because she was home from work during the Holidays. If she'd had our Christmas lights energy usage calculator she'd have had a better idea of what those mini lights were costing her each month. It works for traditional and LED Christmas lights and bulbs.
Our Third tool - the Christmas Lights Personality Quiz - is just fun way to see if you are a traditional light enthusiast or completely over the top when it comes to Christmas lights. More tools are coming so bookmark this page and visit again as you make your lighting plan for the 2008 Christmas Season.
