Decorating with Battery Mini Lights for CraftsHow do I light a tabletop centerpiece?
For a quick event that lasts just a few hours, a standard set of battery lights is a good economical choice. They last about 5-7 hours on one charge. They are also great to use if you'll be combining them with traditional mini lights. (They won't clash.) If you are decorating for a party or wedding reception, you'll need to wait until right before your event before you turn them on.
The battery box is just larger than 2 C batteries and can be hidden under foliage or a bow.
Some of our customers have made an announcement at the beginning of their events after everyone is seated asking the guests to turn on the lights. A nice suggestion is to consider giving the centerpieces away to party-goers or friends of the family.
For a corporate or organizational event, you could draw names for the centerpieces.
If you are decorating for a longer term display and have absolute no way to run a cord (which is ideal) then you might look at the LED battery lights - the 9-foot strands with larger lenses have an average life of 18-24 hours depending on color and style.
Fairy lights have the longest lifetime per set of batteries - at over 100 hours of use per set. The drops of resin that are illuminated by LEDs are spaced closely and there are 18 to the strand. The wire they are mounted on can be twisted and holds it's shape. The only drawback is that they are not as bright as the longer LED sets constructed with wire insulation. They serve more as an accent.
What's the best way to light up my stained glass box in a bookcase with no outlet? Our favorite lights for mosaic displays is the fairy or microdrop lights. They provide a gently interior light and if your project is small, they can be "squished" into a box or odd shape. We also like the fact that they last so long per battery charge.
What light would you use to highlight a floral arrangement or a bow?Because of it's bare wire construction, we like the fairy lights for delicate floral arrangements and bow. You can tuck them in and they "stay where you put them". For larger arrangements, the LED lights work well because they come in a variety of colors and wire color (green or white) and can be selected to complement your arrangement. Imagine how lovely artificial floral decor will look after dark with 20 lights nestled in the branches and greenery.
Do you have a light set that would work for my science project?Since most science projects require a certain amount of mobility, we do have customers who purchase sets of lights to test hypotheses about battery life, to light up a model, or to just add pizzaz to their science project board. The LED battery lights are rated for indoor or outdoor use so tend to be the most durable for these types of applications. The 9.5 feet of lit length makes them a good choice for outlining.
