You can change the lenses and diodes from identical light strands and yes, all of the lenses unscrew.
Please keep in mind that the bulbs just don't "pop out". The lenses are machine tightened. There is a seam at the middle of their base and with a good twist, they will unscrew. Then you'll have to transfer a 2-pin diode (has a plastic guide pin so you'll reinsert the diode properly) then screw on the lens.
Fortunately, you'll only have to switch out half. You may still wear a little skin off your thumb depending on how many sets you want to make alternating red and green. (Maybe it'll be time to invite over a few friends.....)
